What to Expect
As a Visitor?
Whether it's a short, long or group visit, you'll find OBEX to be an engaging experience.
-
If you only have a short time, it is still worth coming for a quick survey of the exhibition. A brief walk around will give you a general overview of the history and importance of the Bible, and also some understanding of the unfolding revelation that it contains.
If available, a leader can guide you through a quick tour and point out the main facts.
-
An hour gives you a good opportunity to get more of the detail that the exhibition contains. You can focus on some of the stories surrounding the biblical narrative, learn about the ancient practices of the Israelites, or follow the story of the life and times of Jesus Christ.
Normally it is best to browse at your own pace, but leaders should be available to answer any questions as you go around.
-
Groups can go around by themselves, or if available, can be taken on a guided tour by a leader.
At busy times, a group may have to wait for a short period to get adequate space to begin a tour.
As a Host?
OBEX can be displayed after as little as 45 minutes preparation, giving the opportunity for schools and community halls to make use of their busy spaces.
The OBEX team gives guided tours of the exhibition for schools and other interested groups, and is also available for consultation for the general public.
-
For the best experience possible the minimum room dimensions are 35ft by 35ft (10.6m by 10.6m)
But the exhibition has been successfully set up in many different orientations, and sometimes can be accommodated in two or more different and adjacent rooms.
The trustees can guide as to the best way to arrange the exhibition.
-
It usually takes 45 minutes to put up the main graphics. It takes longer if all of the available graphics and exhibition materials are to be put on display. This is done by the trustees and leaders who are trained in how to handle the display systems.
-
It is important that the hosts of the exhibition ensure that the building is suitable, properly maintained and meets all relevant Health & Safety requirements. The building should be adequately insured and all emergency lighting operational and escape routes clear.
In addition to this, the Origin Bible Trust carries public liability insurance to cover the use of the graphics and exhibition material. Copies of this can be provided upon request.
